Saturday, January 03, 2009It's been less than a month since I submitted a shirt at
Cameesa and it is just two supporters away from being printed! As I spoke about
here, Cameesa works by getting 25 people to "support" your shirt with $20. That $20 gets them a shirt with free shipping plus three cents for every shirt sold.
Granted I have somewhat of an advantage to the average Wooter by using my blog to advertise my shirt, but I'd like to pass that advantage on to all of you as well. Here's the next couple Woot shirts that are likely to be printed -- both with about 40% support already.
Please support these shirts and try out your old Woot designs on Cameesa!
Wednesday, December 31, 2008Derby 75's theme was
"Cabin Fever". The theme was somewhat vague -- pretty much anything to do with cabin fever or claustrophobia was accepted. No text as usual. A weak theme combined with fewer participants due to the holidays made for limited entries and limited votes. Maybe due to the limited votes, a couple of the shirts in the fog are unusually artistic. Besides those, here's some other great shirts I picked out. As usual, click on the thumbnail to see the full-size shirt and comments on Shirt.Woot.
The "King Of All Wild Things" Award
DeadFrog's "Natural Habitat" is an interesting play on the monsters-under-the-bed idea with a "Where the Wild Things Are" flavor to it. Great style, shape, and placement.

Monday, December 29, 2008I was a bit reluctant to do this list since this blog really focuses on the shirts that Woot didn't print. But I decided to write it in order to show that cool shirts
do get printed at Woot.
The interesting thing about this list (besides the fact that I own most of them) is that there is only a single shirt that actually won a derby on this list yet two other shirts that were later editor's picks. That shows you the whole reason this blog exists -- I regularly see shirts I love in the derbies but they are rarely printed.

Sunday, December 28, 2008Yesterday was the Top 5 shirts that did not get printed by Woot but are still available somewhere else. Today's list isn't so positive -- it's the Top 5 great derby shirts of 2008 that unfortunately can't be bought anywhere.
Hopefully, this list will inspire the artists to consider putting their shirt up for sale or re-entering them in an alternate contest. Also, if I missed something and one or more of these shirts actually IS available somewhere, please let me know.
Keep reading to see the remaining four forgotten shirts of 2008. Clicking the shirts will open the original derby comments for that shirt. Add your comment or, even better, PM the artist to encourage them to give their shirt a try somewhere else.

Saturday, December 27, 2008This is the first of several end-of-the-year Top 5 lists I'll be doing. This list is the five great shirts that did not get printed by Woot but thankfully are now available somewhere else. There is a bit of a caveat for this first shirt here though -- it is available at
Cameesa to be supported -- essentially a "pre-buy" that will be available as soon as a total of 25 people have bought in (read "
Trying Out Cameesa" for more about how Cameesa works).

Wednesday, December 24, 2008Edgar R. McHerly is a popular artist who has been participating on Woot for a long time. Instead of the interview I requested, Edgar opted to tell us all a story. Click on the images to see the print-ready formatted image that Edgar prepared.
Hello everyone.
Mr. That Robert wrote to me the other day asking for an interview, but because I am rather shy and interviews make me uncomfortable and all that, I asked him if it would be okay for me to send in something else instead.
So I figured I'd tell you a story I read somewhere, probably a long time ago. It begins in a field where peach trees grow. In the field, there stands one peach tree in particular atop a very small hill. On a warm summer evening, if you were to stand at just the right angle and watch as the sun fades behind the horizon in the background, and if you had the mind to say so, you might say the tree's silhouette looked something like a heart. I've drawn a picture here to give you an idea of where you ought to stand, should you happen into the field some summer at sunset.
