The Still-Want-Awards are going to get a lot easier for a few weeks now that the Double-Take is over. Even the HM shirts are ready to be printed somewhere else. Here'a a couple of great ones including Amarillo's popular "Manteater" which many are hoping gets an Editor's Choice print this week -- if not, it's immediately available to take elsewhere.

Wednesday, August 25, 2010Derby 161 was the
Double-Take Derby #10 where all the shirts that Woot liked but didn't get printed get a second chance. Yesterday, I talked about the top 5 shirts they missed. Today, it will be the top 5 shirts (again in no particular order) that don't look likely to be printed but really should be. In addition, I have predictions for what shirts are likely to be printed next week when Woot picks their Editor's Choices. Tuesday, August 24, 2010No1 has been here since Derby #1, yet I for one have always gotten his handle wrong. He tells me it's "no one" not "number one". It's cool to see another old-timer get a print. Here's more about "no one".

Double-Take Derby #10 and since not every shirt can come back for a another chance there are a few entries that are sorely missed. This is the top 5 shirts (in no particular order) that I'm sorry aren't here for a second chance -- the Shoulda Been Awards.

"The end of the world". Fewer entries and lower vote totals than a typical week. I would have thought this theme would be more popular; there were surprisingly few zombie shirts (I'm definitely not complaining). But there were some fun creative takes on the theme. There have yet to be any HMs posted for the Devo derby. The two I selected here would be great to see again from the artists since they were both beautiful works that obviously took a lot of effort and would be easy to remove the logos from.

"Road Trip". This theme was broader than it first appeared as you can see by the variety of entries featured here. I wouldn't say this was an amazingly great theme but there were a lot of solid shirts that I had to mention. Here's your favorites and mine. "Physics". This was a nerdy theme that got a different skew of artists to participate. Many shirts were too literal in their illustration of the theme -- there wasn't any fun or interest beyond the scientific principal being drawn. The "Galactopus" Award
ILoveDoodle's "The Solar System" is a new take on a tired idea. I love the barely visible octopus that would only be seen as someone looked closer at your shirt. Also, the texture on the sun gives it the feel of being inside the octopus. Fantastic work!
