Derby 128 Loser Awards
Derby 128's theme was
"Things that start with the letter 'V'". A wide open theme -- with a little creativity almost anything could have been entered this week. Interesting that the flexibility led many of the entries to tend toward the bizarre and absurd -- in a good way. Here's my favorites. As usual, click on the thumbnail to see the full-size shirt and comments on Shirt.Woot.
The "King Of The Concrete Jungle" Award
RobSoul's "Vengeance is Mine" has some wonderful faces -- the lion's smug look is a nice counterpoint to the tourists and hunters' looks of mostly surprise. Many other great details here: the lion's medals, the tourist's camera, and the wallpaper are all fantastic. Print!
The BLAs
Here's the rest of the designs I liked. Everyone mentioned today will be getting one of these in their Shirt.Woot entry comments and their
ShirtDerbyStats' badge list.

Picasserole's "Vagary" is as freakish as it should be for the word chosen. Fantastic linework here.
| D1COM's "Vulture Vescooter" has way fewer votes than it should probably because of the vague detail thumbnail. The resub is doing much better due to the visibility of the vulture but I much prefer the colors on this one.

Shigwarm's "Vans" is a simple repeating design with attractive colors. Very wearable.
| KrisRobinson's "VHS is Dead" is a great joke and simple clean illustration. Here's one case where the extra joke text on the detail picture, "Say hello to Betamax for me" would add to the fun by being printed on the shirt.

Newcomer "RiceCupcake" has a fun initial entry with "V is for Vicious Vacuum". I love the retro style and colors. Why are bricks being vacuumed though?
| Another newcomer, "TomasAppleton" has a fun and woefully undervoted entry with "Vortex: Van vs. Volcano". I like the cartoony style and single color simplicity of this. Please keep participating Tomas!
