Derby 187 Loser Awards
Derby 187's theme was
"Retro Audio". Woot was looking for designs with vinyl records, cassette tapes, and other anachronistic media storage. Pop culture and text were disallowed this week. The pop culture rule was a welcome break but the text rule seemed excessive when at least incidental text could have been a nice addition for mix tapes and such. Frankly, I'm a sucker for vinyl and cassette type designs so it was tough for me to narrow these down. But, with your help, here's this week's best of the best. As usual, click on the thumbnail to see the full-size shirt and comments on Shirt.Woot.
The "Nick and Nora" Award
Expo01 scores his 2nd featured BLA in a row. The combination of the space background, infinity symbol, and vinyl records works beautifully on this. The one thing that bothers me is that the needle arm position seems awkward -- it might work best to just leave it off. However, this is still one of the most wearable shirts I've seen in a while. I'd love to buy this one if I had a chance.
The BLAs
Here's the rest of the designs you and I liked. Everyone mentioned today will be getting one of these nifty BestLoser badges in their Shirt.Woot entry comments thread.

SeedUvPain's "Walk, Man, Walk" gives a Walkman and a couple of cassettes a soft and friendly feel with clever use of the hardware, soft edges, and subdued colors.
| LocustPR says "Not only is this shirt sheer perfection on execution, it's witty, visually easy to 'get', it stands out among the other entries this week. Not only because it's one color but because I believe it has truly encapsulated the main idea of the derby's theme."

JmmBell1987 says "Couboo's 'Let the music play' is a delightful character piece that takes a refreshingly straightforward approach to the theme, celebrating all forms of rocking out."
| FabioFranco's "Tape Me!" is crisp and simple and very wearable like his stuff always is.

MurrayMullet's "Young Love Mix" is a sweet and clever idea with pleasant colors.
| GeekFactor12 says "Impressive styling and an appealing color palette." This great design was right on the border of getting a BLA when it was first subbed just a few weeks ago so it's good to see it again for an even more appropriate theme.
