Derby 48 Loser Awards
Here's the extremely late Derby 48 Loser Awards. Hopefully, somebody still cares to see who gets a BLA for last week. Derby 48's theme was
"Bugs". Here's a list of the ones you and I liked. As usual, click on the thumbnail to see the full-size shirt and comments on Shirt.Woot.
The "Who's The Bug Now?" Award nominated by eHalcyon
KDeuce's "ZPXG 241.1" is a monstrosity that manages to look both organic and mechanical at the same time. Though there aren't any other objects in the design to give a sense of scale, I think the bug is stepping on a human. He was probably messing around with some ants. Serves him right. With a beautiful design and perhaps a very subtle animal rights message, kdeuce's entry was certainly one of the better designs this week. Keep those great designs coming!
The "Kiss Of The Spider Woman" Award nominated by KlsWoot
DSladek consistently creates incredibly detailed and beautiful entries every week yet somehow he has not been printed yet. This week, his intricate "Spider Witch" is no exception. Great details and subtle colors. I'd love to see this enlarged further on a poster.
The "Revenge Tastes Like Spiders" Award nominated by eHalcyon
Sometimes, a butterfly gets so hungry that flower nectar just isn't enough. In "Butterfly's Revenge", Bzltyrfn illustrates an alternative source of butterfly nutrition. The dangling web is beautifully anchored to the shoulder area and the fat little bug is comfortable in a nontraditional bottom placement. Though he looks a bit sluggish, that butterfly certainly is full of character. But just like other fat creatures from past weeks, he was unable to make it further up in the ranks. Better luck next time!
Honorable Mentions
Here's the rest of the ones you and I liked. Thanks to all the artists for their creative and beautiful entries and thanks to all the nominators for their help in putting together these BLAs.
Everyone mentioned today will be getting one of these in their entry comments and their
ShirtDerbyStats' badge list.
If you'd like your favorite shirt to show up here next week, send in your nominations by mid-Tuesday. Give me some reasons why it is the greatest thing Woot will ever see and I'll include the best ones. Longer entries are more likely to make it outside the Honorable Mention section just for formatting reasons. Please include a link to the derby entry.
