FAQ
Q: What's going on around here?
A: I want the Shirt.Woot Derby t-shirts that DIDN'T win. This site is here to talk about some of the hidden gems in each derby, interview artists, and have a centralized place to find some of those old derby shirts when they get resubmitted to other sites for vote or sale.
Q: I'm a fan. How do I find an old derby shirt I liked?
A: First, check the
Buy gallery here to see if the shirt is already available elsewhere to buy. Also, check the
Vote gallery to see if your favorite shirt is being tried out at another contest site. If you still can't find your shirt, search Shirt.Woot, get the artists' name, and PM them on Woot to encourage them to offer their shirt somewhere for sale.
Q: I'm an artist who has a derby design I'd like to get printed. What are my options?
A: There are 4 main options:
- Enter your shirt in another contest such as at Threadless or DesignByHumans. Check Compete-tee-tion for a list of many other contest sites.
- Submit your shirt directly to another shirt-a-day site like TeeFury or RiptApparel. Whether your shirt is printed will be determined directly by the printer instead of a voting system. Your pay is per shirt and tends to be lower than contest winnings.
- Put it up for "support" at Cameesa. Cameesa has a pretty unique model where supporters prebuy shirts until a set limit is reached and the shirt is offered for sale. Read more about some of my personal experiences with Cameesa here and here.
- Print it and sell it yourself with a print-to-order shop. Shops are free to setup and you make money on each sale but overhead will keep sales low. Check out SpreadShirt. It's Cheaper than the others, the best print quality, and they have the option to do plot printing. Zazzle, Bountee, and Skreened look good. CafePress is the $800 gorilla in this business. They've been around forever and are reliable but non-white shirts are expensive.
No matter which option you choose, please update the
Vote or
Buy galleries to let folks know where they can get your shirt.
Q: Does Woot know what you're doing here?
A: Yeah, we're cool.
