BestLosers 2012 calendar nominations
As mentioned, BestLosers will be printing a calendar of some of the best unprinted Derby designs. Based on the polling results, here's the details of what we'll be doing:
- To keep prices low, I'll be using the standard size calendar from Lulu.
- This is 100% for charity and neither I nor the artists involved will get any payment. The Red Cross would be the beneficiary of all profits.
- To encourage as many buyers as possible, I plan to offer these at 3 price points, depending on the amount you're willing to donate to charity: $15, $20, $25.
And now, the fun part. I'd like YOUR help nominating which designs from the Woot derby should be printed. I'm hoping we get a nice number of nominations here -- I'd really like to see multiple people clamoring for the same designs to know that I'm not just selecting one person's favorite.
Here's the rules:
- Please don't nominate yourself!
- No more than 2 nominations per person.
- Please use the 240x240 design detail image if possible.
- Please include your email address in the appropriate field below.
- Please describe the REASON you like the shirt -- your reasons will not be published anywhere but you want to try to convince other nominators to go with your design.
- If this works out, this will be an annual event. So, for this first round, you can only nominate designs from derbies BEFORE 2011. So, derbies 1-179 only.
- Don't nominate shirts you know that have been printed at other sites -- let's try to get those great shirts that really slipped through the cracks.
- Nominations will be open until September 15th.
Just to prewarn everyone so there are no complaints -- I have a handful of my own choices that I'd really like to include plus I'd like to print one of my own. Also, I'm sure there will be artists who are unreachable, not be interesting in participating, or who have already sold the design. So, what finally shows up in the calendar might look different than what comes out of this nomination process.

zosai
I guess I'll get it started here. I thought this was a great design.

And this one is not only hilarious (tennis ball is my favorite), it's perfect for October!
ThatRobert Zosai, thanks for getting the ball rolling!
Spiritgreen
An odd and beautiful moment of nature captured effortlessly by littleclyde.
Spiritgreen
A snapshot of swamp life in lucky1988's tremendously fun style. Another piece of art I'd be happy to see all month.
ThatRobert Thanks for the noms, Spirit!
bluejester
One of my favorites from the Psychedalia derby. A frog vomiting a tree, that has fish swimming through it, upwards into water. It's weird, but it is without a doubt, one of the most intriguing and detailed entries I've seen.
ThatRobert Blue, Alex not being a Woot regular as well as now a Threadless employee (if I'm not mistaken), makes that unlikely but it never hurts to ask!
bluejestershirt.woot.com Derby Entry.aspx id=30876I have an affinity for steampunk inspired designs. There is a part of me that, despite knowing how impractical steam power is in this day and age, that would love to see Deadfrog's "SteamBiker" in real life. The intricate line work on this design looks like with a bit of funding, Deadfrog could make it a reality.

Late nomination I know, but I realise you are considering opening it up again. This and 'The Grimm Tale' are such strong and quirky ideas that I always felt strongly should not have been overlooked.
ThatRobert Pixel, I'll post a calendar update this weekend. I actually have over a dozen artists right now (assuming they all send in their artwork!). Also, you'll be glad to hear that Marzipan already has a slot in the calendar.
