Derby 202 Loser Awards

Derby 202's theme was "Anthropomorphic Food". After weeks of "no pop culture" and "no text" rules, Woot lets out for recess with a theme like this and with both text and pop culture allowed. It felt like the artists weren't really ready to "go for it" though -- it's like Woot trained us to restraint and we didn't know what to do with freedom. The results were surprisingly good. Best. Clue Shirt. Ever. Kevlar51 and Walmazan collaborated for this adorable illustration based on the game Clue. Fantastic colors, halftoning, and composition.

BlueJester says "Normally, I hate bananas. However, I'll make and exception for Marzipanapple's bizarre and appealing (accidental pun, but I'll go for it) 'Forever Banana.' It's odd on so many levels, yet this oddness is the very reason it keeps bringing me back to look at it. In a mostly cute derby (which can be okay IMO on occasion) this one stands out. Your eyes almost involuntarily strain to look for ever more bananas."	Orange you glad...? FftKrazee is back after a long absence with "The Loneliest Fruit". What a charming and simple idea!
JRWorkshop's "Served" is refreshingly non-cute but still humorous. Great woodcut look.	GeekFactor12 says "Awesome texture, and the speech bubble is just right."
I love the food pyramid as a giant free-for-all. It'd be even better if it was clearer this was THE food pyramid. Maybe an outline of it in the background?	There are so many interesting ways to twist the anthropomorphization of food, isn't there? You can DO anything and it can be defended with, "it's just food, you pervert." Bsweber has got a fantastic idea here with great expressions and textures. Really surprised this didn't finish in the fog.
